With our International Womens’ Day event coming up THIS THURSDAY! We thought it would be great to interview the lady we have collaborated with for the evening, Jay Diamond. Jay has not only helped us put the evening together but is one of our three inspirational speakers! She is also a member of the BDC Works family and so we thought we would find out more about what it is she does while she is working here. Jay is such an interesting lady and we love having her energy in our space and can’t wait to hear from her on Thursday night!
What are you working on while you are here at BDCWorks?
As a result of working me, my clients get juicer relationships and a more orgasmic life and soul level success! I spend my time at BDC Works to work on my upcoming women’s retreat in Portugal, the promotion and design for my Aphrodite Yoga classes, to plan my workshops and talks and build the back end of my online course. Basically everything that isn’t my one to one healing work with clients; and there is a lot of that.
How did you get into this field of work? Give us a brief history of your journey to where you are now.
I started practicing Reiki when I was 18. I kept it as a sideline for many years, taking the occasional training along the way to reduce my own stress levels and help others. About 3.5 years ago I was awarded business development support from Ogunte, who help women have an impact in the community. I decided to take the bull by the horns and move my healing work as my main focus rather than a sideline, I also qualified as a yoga teacher.
Why did you decide to join a coworking space?
People think working from home is great. That’s because they don’t do it everyday. It gets boring, tiring and a bit lonely. There is something really valuable about getting up and getting out of the house to work, having a few work friends to have a laugh with and bounce ideas off. I found I was working all the time because there was no separation between work and home. I needed to change that, so I joined a coworking space – and I love it.
What is your favourite thing about being in this coworking space?/What is your favourite story/memory/experience of being in BDCWorks?
Everyone is really friendly and doing interesting things. The staff that run it are great and really make an effort to create a fun and harmonious place to work. I’m co-creating an event at BDC Works for International Women’s day with the fabulous Katie Purchase and it’s been so much fun!
What is something you are extremely passionate about?
Helping people live the best possible version of themselves, and seeing them break the chains of the past to create a better future. Lights me up.
One quote that you try and live by on a daily basis?
“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle”.
I think just after reading this, we are so excited to hear more from her when she speaks on Thursday and we hope you are excited too!
